FAQ

Questions, answered.

Pricing, plans, meeting hours, WhatsApp and Telegram setup, calendar integration, privacy — everything people ask about Marcus.

Getting started

The basics — what Marcus is, how it's different, and how to send your first message.

What is Marcus?

Marcus is an AI personal assistant that helps you stay productive across iPhone, Mac, the web, WhatsApp, and Telegram.

You text Marcus the moment something comes to mind — a meeting to move, a task to remember, a follow-up to send — and it turns that message into a reminder, a todo, a calendar move, or a note that comes back at exactly the right time.

How is Marcus different from ChatGPT or another AI chatbot?

A chatbot answers questions. Marcus does work.

  • Persistent — it remembers your projects, people, and preferences across every conversation.
  • Proactive — it pings you before a meeting, after a call, when a follow-up is overdue.
  • Cross-surface — start a conversation on WhatsApp, finish it on Mac, get a reminder on iPhone.
  • Action-oriented — it joins meetings, edits your calendar, and writes follow-ups, not just text replies.
What's the fastest way to try Marcus?

Two paths, both take under a minute:

  • iPhone — install the iOS app from the App Store, sign in, and start texting Marcus from inside the app. Voice mode works on day one.
  • WhatsApp / Telegram — sign in to the web app, go to Settings → Channels, and connect WhatsApp or Telegram. Marcus becomes a contact you can message anytime.

You don't need to install anything to use Marcus through WhatsApp or Telegram.

Where do I sign in?

Open the web app and sign in with Google. The same account works on iOS and Mac — sign in once, your plan and history follow you everywhere.

Pricing & plans

Two plans, a 7-day free trial, optional hour packs. No team or enterprise tier — yet.

How much does Marcus cost?

Marcus has two subscription plans:

  • Yearly — $149.99/year (works out to $12.50/month, saving 37% vs. monthly)
  • Monthly — $19.99/month

Both include a 7-day free trial, 10 meeting hours per month with rollover, and full access to Marcus across iOS, macOS, Web, WhatsApp, and Telegram. Cancel anytime.

Need more meeting time? Add a one-time hour pack: 5 hours for $9.99 or 20 hours for $29.99 — the 20-hour pack saves 25%. Hour packs never expire.

Is the free trial really free? Will I be charged?

The first 7 days are free. You won't be charged during the trial period. If you cancel before the trial ends, you pay nothing — and you keep using Marcus until day 7.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. Cancel any time and you keep access until the end of your current billing period.

  • iOS or Mac App Store — cancel from Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions, or directly in the App Store app.
  • Web (Stripe) — open the Marcus web app, go to Settings → Manage subscription, which takes you to the Stripe customer portal.

Hour packs are one-time purchases; they don't auto-renew, and unused hours never expire.

Do you offer discounts, refunds, or a student plan?

The yearly plan is our discount — it's effectively 37% off the monthly price. We don't offer a separate student or non-profit tier yet.

For refunds: App Store purchases are handled by Apple via reportaproblem.apple.com. Web purchases are handled directly by us — email hello@trymarcus.app within 14 days of purchase.

Do you offer a team or business plan?

Not yet. Marcus is currently one assistant per person — each user has their own subscription, calendar, memory, and meeting hours. We're working on a team plan; if you'd like to be on the early-access list, email hello@trymarcus.app.

Meetings & hours

How meeting hours work, what platforms Marcus joins, and how it captures the work afterwards.

How do meeting hours work?

Every Marcus subscription includes 10 meeting hours per month. A meeting hour is consumed when Marcus joins a scheduled call to capture notes and follow-ups.

  • Rollover — unused subscription hours carry into the next month, so a slow week doesn't go to waste.
  • Hour packs — stack one-time packs on top: 5 hours ($9.99) or 20 hours ($29.99). Purchased hours never expire.
  • Order of use — Marcus uses your monthly subscription hours first, then dips into hour packs.
Which meeting platforms does Marcus join?

Marcus joins meetings on Zoom, Google Meet, and Microsoft Teams. As long as the calendar event has a video link Marcus recognizes, it can join.

Does Marcus join automatically? Can I opt out for a specific meeting?

You decide. Once your calendar is connected, you can set Marcus to:

  • Auto-join every meeting
  • Auto-join only meetings with external participants
  • Ask before joining
  • Never auto-join (you invite Marcus manually)

You can also flip a single meeting on or off from the Marcus app or by texting Marcus, e.g. "skip my 3pm".

What does Marcus produce after a meeting?

For every meeting Marcus joins, you get:

  • A concise summary of what was discussed
  • A list of decisions made
  • Action items, attributed to people, with suggested due dates
  • A searchable transcript
  • Optional follow-up email drafts you can edit and send
What if my meeting runs longer than 10 hours/month allows?

Marcus will warn you when you're close to your monthly limit. Add a 5-hour or 20-hour pack at any time — they top up immediately and never expire. Existing meetings already in progress keep recording without interruption.

Platforms & channels

iPhone, Mac, web, WhatsApp, Telegram — your plan and memory follow you everywhere.

Which platforms does Marcus run on?

iOS (iPhone), macOS (Mac), Web, WhatsApp, and Telegram. Same account, same memory, same plan across every surface — buy once, use everywhere.

How do I connect WhatsApp or Telegram?

Open Marcus on the web or in the app, go to Settings → Channels, and click Connect next to WhatsApp or Telegram. You'll be guided through linking your account; once done, Marcus becomes a contact you can message anytime — voice messages work too and are transcribed automatically.

Which calendars does Marcus support?

Google Calendar, Apple Calendar (iCloud), Microsoft Outlook, and Yandex Calendar. Connect any or all of them from Settings — Marcus reads upcoming events, suggests reschedules, protects focus time, and flags conflicts. You can revoke access at any time.

Do I need the iOS or Mac app?

No. The web app + WhatsApp or Telegram is enough for daily use. The iOS and Mac apps add voice mode, a polished meetings workspace, widgets, and the ability to interrupt Marcus at any moment.

I bought Marcus on iOS — does my Mac and web work too?

Yes. Plans are cross-platform. Sign in with the same account on Mac or on the web and your subscription, meeting hours, and history are immediately available.

What languages does Marcus understand?

Dozens. Marcus replies in the language you write in, and you can switch languages mid-conversation. Voice messages on Telegram and WhatsApp are transcribed automatically.

Privacy & data

What we store, what we don't, and how to delete it.

Is my data private?

Yes. Your conversations, calendar, and meeting transcripts are private to you. Marcus uses your information only to do the work you ask of it.

  • We do not sell your data.
  • We do not use your messages or transcripts to train third-party AI models.
  • You can delete any conversation, meeting, or transcript at any time.

Full details are in the Marcus privacy policy.

What does Marcus do with my meeting recordings and transcripts?

Transcripts are stored in your Marcus workspace and are visible only to you. Marcus uses them to draft follow-ups, surface decisions, and answer your questions about past calls. Delete a transcript and it's gone — including from the index Marcus uses to recall past conversations.

Marcus tells the meeting host (and shows in the participant list) that an AI note-taker is present, in line with consent best-practice and most jurisdictions' requirements.

Where is my data stored?

On secure cloud infrastructure (Google Cloud and Firebase). Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. We never store your calendar credentials directly — we use OAuth tokens which you can revoke from your Google, Apple, or Microsoft account at any time.

How do I delete my account and all my data?

Open the Marcus app or web dashboard, go to Settings → Account → Delete account. You'll be asked to confirm — once confirmed, your account, conversations, transcripts, calendar links, and billing data are permanently removed.

Prefer to do it by email? Send a deletion request to hello@trymarcus.app from the email address tied to your account.

Account & billing

Plan changes, payment, switching devices, and getting help.

How do I switch from monthly to yearly (or vice versa)?

Web subscriptions: open Settings → Manage subscription → change plan. The change is prorated — you only pay the difference for the remainder of the current period.

App Store subscriptions: open the App Store app → your profile → Subscriptions → Marcus → choose a different plan. Apple handles the proration.

What payment methods do you accept?

Web: all major credit and debit cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and select local methods, via Stripe. App Store: whatever payment method is on your Apple ID.

I changed phones / Macs — will Marcus still work?

Yes. Sign in to Marcus with the same account on the new device and your subscription, hours, conversations, and memory come back instantly.

How do I get help?

The fastest way is to just text Marcus — it can route a question to support if it can't help itself. You can also:
